Honor Pad X7b Launches in Saudi Arabia With a 9.7-Inch 90Hz Screen and 8,000mAh Battery

Honor has launched the Pad X7b, a budget tablet with a 9.7-inch 90Hz screen, an 8,000mAh battery and a microSD slot. It is listed on Honor's global website but is currently on sale only in Saudi Arabia (Notebookcheck).

Price and availability

Notebookcheck gives the Wi-Fi model a price of SAR 499, about $133, and the LTE version with 128GB of storage SAR 699, about $186. Technetbooks lists the base model at SAR 599 instead, so the entry price is not fully settled; SAR 499 appears in more reports. Honor has not confirmed other markets, and no Indian price or launch has been announced.

Display

The 9.7-inch screen has a resolution of 2,052 by 1,152 pixels, a 90Hz refresh rate and 500 nits of peak brightness. Honor adds 100 percent sRGB coverage and 243 ppi. The panel carries TÜV Rheinland low blue light and flicker-free certification, and the software includes an e-book mode.

Performance

The Snapdragon 685 is a six-nanometre, eight-core processor that Notebookcheck describes as an entry-level part from 2020. Honor's page describes the memory as 8GB, made up of 4GB plus 4GB of smart expansion; only 4GB is physical RAM. Storage is 128GB, expandable by microSD up to 2TB, and one outlet (Android PC TV) also mentions a 64GB version. For a tablet likely to be used for video and reading, the card slot is the most practical feature.

Battery

Honor rates the 8,000mAh battery for more than 16 hours of video, more than 21 hours of e-book reading, more than 122 hours of music and 82 days of standby. These are manufacturer figures from controlled tests, and no charging speed has been stated.

Design and durability

The tablet has an aluminium alloy unibody with toughened glass. Honor says it holds SGS Gold Label certification for drop and crush resistance and meets the MIL-STD-810H standard, with resistance to a 1.6-metre face drop and a 1.2-metre corner drop.

Software

Honor lists Android with MagicOS, Google Assistant and Gemini Live support, plus an Honor Kids suite with parental controls. It does not state an update policy.

What it is for

On paper, the Pad X7b is a media and reading tablet for families rather than a performance device. The chip is old, memory is limited and the screen, while sharp for the price, is not especially bright. The battery, card slot and durability claims are its strengths.

What to watch next

Watch for more markets and pricing outside Saudi Arabia, hands-on tests of the battery claims and brightness, and any statement on software updates.
