Apple Confirms an October 28 "Pro and Tell" Event, With a Touchscreen MacBook Pro Expected
Apple has put a date on its second October launch, and the invite wording points to hands-on time with new Macs and an iPad mini.

Apple will hold its second October launch on Wednesday, October 28, under the tagline "Pro and tell." Media have been invited to an in-person session in Los Angeles that starts at 10 a.m. Pacific Time (10:30 p.m. IST), according to 9to5Mac and Macworld, which reported the invitations on Monday, October 19.
What Apple has actually said
Apple has confirmed only the title, date, city and time. The only on-the-record line comes from Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing, who posted "Can't wait to pro and tell next week." No products were named in the invitation, and Apple has not listed a livestream.
The format also looks different from a keynote. MacRumors writes that it is "not expecting a standard event" and describes an experience built around hands-on time with new hardware. It is Apple's second event of the month, after the October 13 "Welcome Home" announcements.
What the reports expect
Every product below comes from media reporting, most of it from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, and none of it is confirmed by Apple.
| Expected product | Reported details |
|---|---|
| Touchscreen MacBook Pro | OLED, 14-inch and 16-inch, Dynamic Island, "significantly lighter"; 9to5Mac names M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, others name no chip |
| OLED iPad mini | Revamped speakers, relocated front camera; AppleInsider expects an 8.4-inch hybrid OLED and possibly an A20 chip |
| Entry 14-inch MacBook Pro | M6 chip, current non-touch design |
| iMac | M6 chip; AppleInsider says 24-inch |
The name and the price
MacRumors reads the "Pro and tell" wording as a hint that the touchscreen laptop keeps the MacBook Pro name rather than a rumoured MacBook Ultra label. That is an interpretation of a tagline. No source has reported a price for any of the products. A touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro would be a first for the Mac line, so its price against the current 14-inch models will matter to buyers.
Why the timing matters
Gurman expects the new Macs to reach stores on Friday, November 6, with a store reset planned the night before. A hands-on session on October 28 would leave about nine days before that. Neither date beyond October 28 is confirmed by Apple.
Apple's calendar is crowded: the iPhone Duo went on sale on October 23, the HomePod mini 2 ships on October 30, and HomeView and the new Apple TV 4K follow on November 13.
What is still unknown
Whether the session will be streamed, which products will be shown, whether any can be ordered the same day, pricing, storage tiers and the touchscreen MacBook Pro's chip. Indian pricing and availability will likely follow Apple's usual pattern of a later local launch, but Apple has said nothing yet.
What to watch next
A newsroom post or stream link before October 28, pre-order timing after the event, which would show whether November 6 holds, and the touchscreen MacBook Pro's starting price.
