Apple's "Welcome Home" Event on October 13: HomeView, Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini 2
Apple invited press to a New York presentation on October 8 without naming a product. Here is what the leaks expected, and what Apple announced.
Apple invited press to a "Welcome home" event on Tuesday, October 13, in New York, and the theme pointed squarely at the connected home. Apple named no products in the invitation, so the pre-event lineup below came from leaks and reports; the update box shows what Apple actually announced.

What Apple confirmed before the event
Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing, posted a teaser on October 8 that read "Welcome home. October 13." Journalists received invitations to an "Apple Experience" in Tribeca, according to 9to5Mac and Notebookcheck, and Mark Gurman of Bloomberg also said invitations had gone out for a product launch in New York. 9to5Mac put the start at 9 a.m. Eastern. Apple did not say whether it would stream the presentation, and its events page at the time listed only the September iPhone event.
What reports expected on stage
Coverage named a smart home hub with a display, called HomePad in reports, a new Apple TV 4K and a HomePod mini 2. Notebookcheck said the hub was reportedly planned in two variants, which matched the tabletop and wall-mount HomeView models Apple announced. It also noted that code in the tvOS 27.2 beta suggested the new Apple TV could pair with up to four HomePods for surround sound.
Shortly before the event, Gurman reported that the Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini would ship on October 30 (MacRumors). That proved right for the HomePod mini 2, while Apple set November 13 for the Apple TV 4K.
The LG question
Bloomberg reported before the event that Apple had worked with LG on a video doorbell, a deadbolt lock, a thermostat and security cameras, and Android Authority pointed to leaked images and a social media claim that Schneider Electric was also involved. Both turned out to be right: Apple's Apple Home Collection includes LG's doorbell, deadbolt, cameras and thermostat, plus a Schneider Electric thermostat.
Why the products need to work together
A display hub, a streaming box and a smaller speaker depend on the same software, and the tvOS 27.2 code Notebookcheck cited suggests Apple is tying the speaker and the box together. The surround-sound pairing is a lead from beta code, not a confirmed feature.
A second event
Before the event, Android Authority said a second Apple event about two weeks later might focus on Macs, including a MacBook Pro with an OLED display, and 9to5Mac and Notebookcheck carried a report pointing to October 27. Apple has since confirmed a "Pro and Tell" event in Los Angeles on October 28.
