Samsung's One UI 9 Brings Scam Detection and My FanCam to Galaxy S26, Now Out in India

Samsung has begun the stable rollout of One UI 9, built on Android 17, to the Galaxy S26 series, after a beta programme that began in May. The update brings eleven new features across camera, personalisation, privacy and security (SamMobile, 91mobiles).

<blockquote><strong>Update, October 25:</strong> The stable update reached Galaxy S26 phones in India around September 29 as build S948BXXU4BZI6, about 4GB with the September 2026 security patch. Reports differed on whether it first went only to beta participants or to all users (<a href="https://gadgets.beebom.com/news/samsung-galaxy-s26-s26-plus-s26-ultra-get-stable-one-ui-9-update-india">Beebom</a>, <a href="https://www.sammyfans.com/2026/09/29/samsung-officially-starts-one-ui-9-0-rollout-in-india/">Sammyfans</a>).</blockquote>

What is new

The most attention-grabbing addition is My FanCam, which automatically tracks and reframes a moving subject, useful for filming sports, children or pets without a second person on the camera. Now Brief, Samsung's AI daily summary card, becomes editable and generative, and a related feature called Now Nudge offers contextual suggestions, such as saving a location, inside a conversation.

On security and privacy, Scam Detection uses on-device processing to flag suspicious calls and messages, arriving as the FBI warns that voice-cloning impersonation scams have cost victims more than $1.6 billion since January 2025. Privacy Alerts uses on-device AI to flag risks such as apps attempting background permission access, malware and unknown-source installs, and surfaces them inside Now Brief. A Warranty & Service section in Settings and a Security Brief feature round out the release (Digit).

The staggered rollout

Galaxy S26, S26+, S26 UltraSouth Korea September 16; US September 23; India around September 29
Galaxy S25 series, Z Fold7, Z Flip7From September 28 (Korea first; US from October 2)
Other beta-eligible modelsEarly October onwards

Samsung also ran a One UI 9 beta for the Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra and S25 FE in markets including India, South Korea, the UK and the US, and says timing and feature availability vary by country, region, language, model and carrier.

Why staggered rollouts matter more this year

Much of One UI 9's value rests on region-dependent Galaxy AI processing and language support. A feature like Scam Detection is only as useful as its ability to recognise the scam patterns common in a given market, so language and regional support can lag a phone's home market.

For Indian users

Indian Galaxy S26 owners now have the stable update, and India's history of impersonation and phishing scams targeting UPI and banking credentials makes Scam Detection the feature to watch here. How well it is tuned to scam patterns common in India has not been detailed.

What to watch next

Watch for the stable release for the Galaxy S25 series in India, and whether Scam Detection proves effective against the voice-cloning and spoofing techniques the FBI has flagged.
