Oppo Watch S2 Launches in China at CNY 1,599 With a FatMax Fat-Burning Fitness Mode
Oppo's 8.9mm, 34.4g round smartwatch launched on September 22 alongside the Find X10 series, adding ECG, wrist temperature and a personalised fat-burning heart-rate zone.

Oppo has launched the Watch S2, a fitness-focused smartwatch, in China on September 22 alongside the Find X10 series. Its headline feature is FatMax, a fat-burning guidance mode (Gizmochina, Notebookcheck).
<blockquote><strong>Update, October 25:</strong> This story was first published from Oppo's pre-launch teasers. The Watch S2 is now official at CNY 1,599, with China sales from September 24. Oppo has not announced pricing or a release date outside China (<a href="https://www.thetechoutlook.com/new-release/gadgets-release/earphones/oppo-watch-s2-launched-in-china-with-1-46-amoled-display-and-ecg-monitoring-enco-x4-brings-dynaudio-tuned-dual-drivers-and-up-to-53-hour-battery-life/">The Tech Outlook</a>). Launch coverage describes the battery and FatMax inputs slightly differently from the teasers, as noted below.</blockquote>
Mostly the same body, new health features
The Watch S2 keeps its predecessor's round-dial design almost unchanged: 8.9mm thick and 34.4g without the strap, in three colours that teasers named Vibrant Orange, Misty Powder and Mountain Shadow Grey. It has a 1.46-inch AMOLED display that peaks at 3,000 nits in outdoor sports modes. This is an incremental hardware refresh, with the real changes in software and sensors (Gizmochina).
FatMax gives a personalised fat-burning heart-rate zone and an estimate of grams of fat burned in a workout. Oppo's teasers said the zone uses age, weight, height and activity level; launch coverage lists height, weight, resting heart rate and VO2 max, with real-time prompts to stay in range and estimates of fat and carbohydrate burned. Health tracking adds ECG, wrist temperature, blood oxygen and heart rate, and Oppo claims 75% better resistance to interference for its optical sensor and 98.8% accuracy for exercise heart rate.

Skepticism is warranted
Oppo's figures are self-reported and have not been independently verified. That matters most for FatMax: consumer smartwatches are generally unreliable at estimating calorie and fat burn precisely, because the underlying physiology is hard to measure from a wrist optical sensor. The heart-rate claim is more plausible, since heart-rate sensing is a more mature and better-validated technology, but all of these numbers are Oppo's own testing until reviewers test the watch.
No Indian price or launch has been announced.
What to watch next
Independent reviews will test whether the heart-rate accuracy and FatMax claims hold up outside Oppo's controlled conditions, and whether Oppo brings the watch to markets beyond China.
