Update: Google launched the Fitbit Edge on October 12 at $179.99, with ECG, built-in GPS, a 1.34-inch AMOLED screen and a user-replaceable battery; it goes on sale on October 27. Google has not confirmed an India launch. Full details are in our Fitbit Edge launch story. This article covers the teaser and the leaks that came before.

Google teased the Fitbit Edge on X and Instagram on October 11 with the line "Get an Edge on your health" and the date 10.12.2026. Everything else about the tracker came from leaks in early October (Android Authority).

Pre-launch, T3 inferred from leaked app support (Google Maps, YouTube Music) that the Edge might run Wear OS; Google has not described it that way. The leaked metal body and colours echoing Google's current hardware were consistent with the four finishes Google announced.

Where it fits

The Edge replaces the Fitbit Charge 6 and sits between the screenless Fitbit Air and the Pixel Watch line, for people who want a screen, GPS and long battery life without a smartwatch price. At $179.99 it is above the $100 Fitbit Air and the $160 Charge 6.

The health claims

The pre-launch caution about insulin resistance and blood pressure estimates still applies. At launch, Google presents them as trend readings in its Health Guardian feature, with coaching behind a Google Health Premium subscription. They are wellness indicators, not medical measurements.

What to watch next

Independent reviews after the October 27 sale date, especially battery life, GPS accuracy and how useful the health trends are without Premium, and any India launch.
