Google has released Android 17 QPR2 Beta 7 for Pixel phones, a bug-fix build that targets a battery drain tied to the Flip to Shh gesture and a failure affecting HTTPS downloads. It arrived on October 9, 2026 and, unlike Beta 6, includes the Pixel 11 family (Android Authority, Droid Life).
What the build fixes
| Android 17 QPR2 Beta 7 | Details |
|---|---|
| Build | CP41.260831.016 |
| Security patch | October 5, 2026 |
| Play services | 26.28.33 |
| Fix 1 | Excessive idle battery drain when Flip to Shh stopped the phone entering deep sleep (issues 560036427, 569079944) |
| Fix 2 | HTTPS downloads failing immediately via the system DownloadManager (issue 562833711) |
| Known issue | Pixel 11 Pro Fold owners may need to re-enroll Face Unlock |
Flip to Shh silences a phone when you place it face down. On earlier beta builds, that gesture kept the processor out of deep sleep, the low-power state a phone enters when untouched, so background hardware stayed active and could drain a battery overnight (PhoneArena). The DownloadManager fix matters because many apps use that system component to fetch files. The Face Unlock warning was repeated from Beta 6.1, so it appears to be an ongoing issue.
Which phones can install it
Beta 7 supports the Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, 7 Pro and 7a, Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, the Pixel 8 line, the Pixel 9 line including 9a and 9 Pro Fold, the Pixel 10 line including 10a and 10 Pro Fold, and the Pixel 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro XL and 11 Pro Fold, plus the Android Emulator. The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are excluded, having reached end of life.
The Pixel 11's return matters because those phones were left out of the October stable update that brought Android 17 QPR1 to other Pixels, and Google has not explained why.
How to get it
Phones enrolled in the Android Beta for Pixel program get the build over the air; sideloading from Google's developer site is faster. Back up important files first and report problems through the Android Beta Feedback app. Some devices were still being prompted to move to Android 17 QPR3 Beta 1, as Google is running two beta tracks at once. Coverage expects stable QPR2 around December alongside the next Pixel Drop.
