Lenovo Googlebook 15 Leak Shows the First Android-Based Laptop Ahead of Preorders
A leaked spec sheet showed a 15.3-inch 120Hz OLED, Intel Core Ultra 5 325 and a 70Wh battery. Lenovo later priced it from $1,099.99, with sales from October 4.

A leak reported by The Mac Observer revealed images and a full specification sheet for the Lenovo Googlebook 15, the first laptop built on Google's new Android-based desktop platform, ahead of preorders opening on September 21.
<blockquote><strong>Update, October 25:</strong> Lenovo has since priced the Googlebook 15 from $1,099.99, below the $1,299 figure cited at Google's Googlebook launch, with store sales from October 4 (<a href="https://www.androidauthority.com/lenovo-googlebook-new-price-launch-3715909/">Android Authority</a>, <a href="https://www.androidheadlines.com/2026/09/lenovo-googlebook-15-intel-core-ultra-specs-launch.html">Android Headlines</a>). The leaked specifications below match the launched model. Best Buy now lists a Core Ultra 5 325, 16GB and 512GB configuration (<a href="https://www.bestbuy.com/product/lenovo-googlebook-15-3-3k-120hz-oled-touchscreen-laptop-intel-core-ultra-5-processor-325-2026-16gb-memory-512gb-storage-cloud-grey/J3PT7KJYXG">Best Buy</a>).</blockquote>
Android, but not the Android you know
Google already has two operating systems that could run a laptop, Android and ChromeOS. The Googlebook uses neither exactly. The new platform, codenamed Aluminium OS and branded Googlebook OS on the device, merges the two. Google introduced it at The Android Show in May 2026 as Android rebuilt for the desktop, positioned to eventually succeed consumer Chromebooks rather than sit beside them.
That signals Google treating the laptop as a first-class Android device rather than a browser in a clamshell, the criticism that has followed Chromebooks since the start.
The hardware
| Specification | Lenovo Googlebook 15 |
|---|---|
| Display | 15.3-inch OLED touchscreen, 2880x1800, 120Hz, 500 nits peak, full DCI-P3 |
| Processor | Intel Core Ultra 5 325 |
| Memory | 16GB or 32GB LPDDR5x |
| Storage | 256GB or 512GB |
| Battery | 70Wh, up to 11 hours of video playback |
| Trackpad | 150mm x 95mm haptic |
| Webcam | 5MP with physical privacy shutter |
| Audio | Four Dolby Atmos-tuned speakers |
| Weight | 1.29kg, metal body |
| US price | From $1,099.99 (announced after the leak) |
Those display specifications would suit a premium Windows ultraportable more than a budget Chromebook, while the Core Ultra 5 places it in the mid-tier rather than chasing flagship performance (OSTechNix).
Two details are new. A dedicated Google "G" key sits between Fn and Alt on the bottom row; its function was not confirmed in the leak, though a Gemini shortcut is the likely use. A Glowbar, a thin multicolour light strip along the lid's top edge near the hinge, borrows design language from the Pixel 11 and shows battery and charging status at a glance. The keyboard is backlit.
An ecosystem play
A companion Googlebook AI Mouse with the same Glowbar accent launches alongside Lenovo E310 True Wireless earbuds and a Lenovo 540 Convertible Tote Backpack. Googlebook devices from Acer, Asus, Dell and HP are also expected, so this is a platform launch across the PC industry rather than a Lenovo exclusive.
No official Indian price or launch has been announced; price listings in India are estimates only.
What to watch next
Hands-on reviews are starting to arrive (MakeUseOf). The bigger test is how deeply Gemini is woven into daily use, which will decide whether Googlebook OS answers ChromeOS's long-standing limits or simply puts Android in a bigger body.
