13-inch M5 MacBook Air Falls to $1,399 for 16GB and 1TB at Amazon, $200 Off
The 13-inch M5 Air is back at its Prime Day price in the US, with no end date given. Other configurations and Mac discounts are also live.

Amazon's US store has dropped the 13-inch M5 MacBook Air with 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage to $1,399, which is $200 under its $1,599 list price. It is the lowest price for that configuration since the summer, according to MacRumors, and no end date has been given beyond this weekend.
All prices below are US dollars at Amazon's US store. Indian readers should not expect these figures to carry over, and we found no matching India price.
The MacBook Air prices
MacRumors reports that the 16GB and 1TB model is $1,399 in two colours, and the 24GB and 1TB model is $1,599, down from $1,799. There is no notable discount on the 15-inch model. 9to5Toys reported the same $1,399 price on October 23 for the Midnight colour only, matching the fall Prime Day price and saying it was the lowest in months. The colour availability differs between the two outlets, so check which finish is discounted before you click.
| Configuration | List price | Sale price |
|---|---|---|
| 13-inch M5 Air, 16GB and 512GB | $1,299 | $1,149 |
| 13-inch M5 Air, 16GB and 1TB | $1,599 | $1,399 |
| 13-inch M5 Air, 24GB and 1TB | $1,799 | $1,599 |
The $1,149 price for the 512GB model comes from 9to5Toys' weekend roundup on October 24, which did not say which retailer is selling it at that price. Confirm the seller on the listing.
Is it the lowest ever
This is where sources need care. MacRumors and 9to5Toys call the $1,399 price the lowest since summer and in months, not an all-time low. A 9to5Toys listing from September 26, since marked expired, had the 16GB and 512GB model at $1,199 and the 1TB model at $1,449, and called the $1,199 figure the best at that time. The 512GB model's $1,149 price on October 24 therefore beats that, but we cannot say whether $1,399 for the 1TB version is the lowest ever. Treat it as a good price and not a record.
Other Mac discounts this weekend
9to5Toys' October 24 roundup also lists several other Apple discounts. The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 Pro, 24GB and 1TB is $2,069 against a $2,499 list price. The 16-inch MacBook Pro with M5 Max, 36GB and 2TB is $3,499 against $4,399. The Mac mini with 16GB and 256GB is $780 against $899, and the Mac Studio with M5 Max is $2,299 against $2,499, which the roundup calls an all-time low. AirPods Pro 3 are $199. We previously covered the AirPods Max 2 and Mac mini discounts, so we do not repeat them here.
Should you buy now
Discounts of this kind are not guaranteed to last. The earlier reports show the Air's price has moved by $50 to $150 within days, and the October 23 report notes it was $150 off earlier in the week before dropping to $200. If you want a 13-inch Air and the configuration matches your needs, $200 off is a sensible time to buy, particularly the 16GB and 1TB model, which has the least headroom to fall further before Black Friday.
If you are not in a hurry, consider two points. 9to5Toys expects $200 drops across the Air line around Black Friday or in November, so waiting could match or beat today's price. And new Macs are rumoured, but nothing has been announced, so do not let speculation delay a purchase you need now. Rumours are not confirmed products.
Before you buy
Check the colour, memory and storage on the product page, confirm the seller is Amazon or an authorised reseller, and look at the return window. Prices at other US retailers may differ. Apple's own online store has not been reported to match these prices.
What to watch next
Watch for price changes over the weekend, since the deal is described as running through the weekend, and for Black Friday pricing in the weeks ahead.
