GoPro Confirms It Is Building a Camera-Equipped Motorcycle Helmet With AGV for 2027

GoPro has confirmed that it is developing a fully integrated, tech-enabled motorcycle helmet with the Italian helmet maker AGV, and says it will arrive in 2027. The announcement appeared on GoPro's news page on Monday, November 2, 2026, and is a teaser rather than a product launch.

What GoPro has said

GoPro describes the project as "a fully integrated, tech-enabled motorcycle helmet" built with AGV, which it calls the leading Italian helmet brand. The company says the GoPro x AGV helmet is coming in 2027 and that it will share more as the launch gets closer. GoPro says it brings engineering and digital imaging expertise to the project and promises riders the tech and performance they need built in.

That is the full extent of the official detail. The page gives no price, specifications, camera resolution, battery life or release month. Visitors can sign up for notifications and apply to a Test Pilot Program that asks for social media handles and helmet size.

What the teaser suggests

Digital Camera World, which saw the teaser footage, describes a full-face helmet with a camera built in below the visor. It says the footage appears to come from a first track outing. Newsshooter calls the announcement just a teaser and agrees that launch is expected in 2027.

Both outlets go further than GoPro has. Newsshooter guesses at a low-profile camera under the visor, an LED display in the chin bar, and rear sensors using AI for blind-spot warnings, and says the helmet will probably be fairly expensive. Digital Camera World guesses the camera is closer to a Hero13 Black than to a smaller camera, and floats crash detection and speakers. None of these features has been confirmed by GoPro, so treat them as the writers' speculation.

How GoPro got here

The helmet is the result of several years of groundwork. GoPro announced on January 16, 2024 that it would acquire Forcite, the Australian maker of tech-enabled helmets, in a release published on Nasdaq. RideApart reported in May 2025 that chief executive Nicholas Woodman told investors on GoPro's first-quarter call that the company had partnered with AGV on tech-enabled motorcycle helmets, and Visordown reported the same. Visordown noted at the time that it was unclear whether the helmets would carry combined branding or become a Forcite line, and GoPro has not addressed that in the latest announcement.

A company under pressure

The helmet arrives at an uncertain moment for GoPro. Newsshooter reported on September 1, 2026 that GoPro agreed to merge with Starman Optical, a private maker of optical transceivers, in a deal worth $285 million in cash, or $1.14 a share. TechSpot reported the same terms and said the deal followed Nasdaq delisting notices and an auditor's going-concern warning. Newsshooter says the deal is targeted to close by the end of 2026 and still needs regulatory and shareholder approval, so it has not completed.

It is not clear from the sources we read how the merger affects the helmet, and GoPro's announcement does not mention it. We have not seen any statement from AGV, and we could not find a press page from the brand.

What it means for riders

For riders, the appeal is a camera built into the helmet instead of one bolted onto the chin or side, which can look cleaner. The open questions are practical ones. A helmet is safety equipment, and adding electronics raises questions about weight, battery life and crash certification. GoPro has not said anything on any of them.

India is not mentioned in the announcement, and no regional availability or pricing has been announced.

What to watch next

The first thing to watch is the Test Pilot Program, which may produce early hands-on impressions and a clearer feature list. Next is whether GoPro confirms a price and a launch window, and whether AGV adds its own statement. The closing of the Starman Optical merger will show whether GoPro's strategy shifts, and the first certified product images will reveal how much of the speculation holds up.
