Anthropic Reportedly Lines Up a November IPO at Up to $2 Trillion, With an October Investor Day

Anthropic is preparing to go public in November, according to Bloomberg, with a pre-IPO investor day at its San Francisco headquarters on October 14 and a stock market debut before Thanksgiving. The company has not confirmed the plan, and a spokesperson declined to comment (Yahoo Finance, FinanceFeeds).

<blockquote><strong>Update, October 25:</strong> The investor day was reportedly held as planned at Anthropic's headquarters. Anthropic confidentially submitted a draft S-1 on June 1, and later reports said it was set to file its prospectus publicly as soon as October 23; SEC rules require the filing at least 15 days before a roadshow, which fits a November 9 start (<a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/article/anthropic-to-publicly-file-for-ipo-as-early-as-friday-sources-say-135343841.html">Yahoo Finance</a>). Bloomberg and Business Insider reported in September that Anthropic picked Nasdaq. None of this has been confirmed by the company.</blockquote>

What Bloomberg reported

Bloomberg's report, published on October 1 and relayed by Yahoo Finance and the Seoul Economic Daily, says Anthropic intends to launch formal IPO marketing in the week starting November 9, so trading could begin before Thanksgiving on November 26. The sources are people familiar with the matter, discussions were still under way, and the company's aim is to debut by the end of the year at the latest. The Seoul Economic Daily describes the timetable as about a month later than an earlier October target.

The valuation and the banks

Market participants quoted in the reports put the likely valuation at $1.8 trillion to $2 trillion. Those are investor estimates, not a price range set by Anthropic or its bankers. Yahoo Finance reports that the company wants the offering to match or exceed SpaceX's Nasdaq listing in June 2026 at about $1.8 trillion, which would rank among the largest IPOs ever.

Yahoo Finance names Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase as lead underwriters, and says Anthropic is weighing a super-voting share structure to keep control with CEO Dario Amodei and the other co-founders. Neither detail has been confirmed, and the size of the raise has not been reported.

What the numbers look like

Reports on the company's pre-listing disclosures say Anthropic's 2025 revenue was about $4.6 billion, up from $386 million in 2024, with a 2025 operating loss of more than $8 billion and a net loss of about $42 billion, more than $34 billion of it from fair-value accounting charges rather than cash spending. Yahoo Finance adds that the company reached positive adjusted operating income in the second quarter of 2026, and separate reports on the draft filing put first-half 2026 revenue at $16.3 billion.

These are secondary reports of company numbers, not a public filing. The gap between the 2025 revenue base and a trillion-dollar valuation shows how much of the price depends on expected growth; the real test will be the registration documents.

The competitive and regulatory backdrop

The reports say OpenAI is seeking about $30 billion of new funding at a valuation near $1.4 trillion and has postponed its own IPO, with Sam Altman citing timing concerns, leaving Anthropic a chance to reach public investors first. The Seoul Economic Daily describes the 2026 IPO market as lacklustre, with weak debuts leading to postponements, and both companies face FTC scrutiny over the risks of autonomous AI agents, which some investors see as an overhang.

What this means for AI users and the industry

An IPO would not change how Claude works, but it would change what Anthropic must disclose: audited accounts, risk factors and how its safety commitments fit its commercial goals. A successful listing would also set a market price on a frontier AI lab at this scale for the first time, which matters for rivals raising money privately and for the chip, cloud and data centre firms whose business depends on their spending.

What to watch next

Watch for the public S-1, which would reveal audited financials, the share structure, the raise and the exchange, then the roadshow in the week of November 9, and any slip past Thanksgiving.
