Fujifilm Raises Camera and Instax Prices in Japan by Up to 23 Percent From October 1

Fujifilm raised prices in Japan on October 1, 2026, by 6 to 23 percent across a range of digital cameras, one lens, instant cameras and smartphone printers, according to the company's own price notice. The notice covers Japan only (PetaPixel, Camera Jabber).

What Fujifilm announced

Fujifilm Imaging Systems published the notice on September 30, giving buyers a single day's warning. Its stated reason, translated from the Japanese page, is that rising material, manufacturing and logistics costs are difficult to absorb through efficiency measures alone. The percentages apply to Fujifilm's shipping prices rather than shop prices, and the notice gives no yen figures.

What other outlets add

PetaPixel and Photo Rumors report the same ranges and Japan-only scope. Europe had a separate rise from September 1, with the X100VI going from €1,799 to €1,999, an 11.1 percent increase, according to Camera Jabber, and PetaPixel notes that Fujifilm's analogue products rose by as much as 52 percent in Japan in April 2025. Photo Rumors calls this another in a series of increases over the past 12 months and notes that the X100VI is still out of stock in the US.

Digital Camera World reports that US prices are unchanged for now, and cites the X100VI moving from £1,599 to £1,749 in the UK, though the timing of that change is unclear. It points to memory costs driven by AI demand and higher silver prices, which affect instax film, as likely pressures, and says Canon, Sony, Nikon, Leica and GoPro have also warned investors about cost pressure. Those are the outlet's assessments; Fujifilm cites only general material and logistics costs.

What it means for buyers

Much of the camera market is now moving on component costs. Fujifilm has raised prices several times in 12 months across its premium X and GFX lines and its mass-market instant range, and the steepest rises are on the cheaper, high-volume instax products, where 23 percent is large relative to the price.

For people in Japan the effect is immediate. Elsewhere, the notice changes nothing: Fujifilm has not announced new prices for the US, India or other markets alongside it. Digital Camera World suggests brands may cut promotions or price new launches higher rather than raise list prices on existing models.

What to watch next

Watch for notices from Fujifilm's US, UK, European and Indian arms, moves by Canon, Sony, Nikon or Leica, and X100VI retail listings, which will show whether the Japanese rise tightens supply or grey-market prices.
